Choir People

Musicians, Committee, Singers and Vice-Presidents

The Choir is fortunate to have a talented and dedicated team of musicians who have served for many years between them in teaching us new songs and developing our sound.  Praise we have earned over the years and the quality we have achieved is due to their patience, musicianship and insistence on high standards.

Musical Director : Luned Jones

Luned has worked with the choir since its early days. First as accompanist and for over thirty years as the Musical Director.  A native of Llanelli and a fervent Scarlets supporter, Luned taught at Builth Primary School for over thirty years. Her husband Bob is a baritone and the Choir Treasurer.  As well as their shared love of music and rugby they are confirmed Francophiles and leave us each summer for a lengthy holiday amongst the vineyards of the South.

Accompanist : Ann Bufton A.L.C.M.

Ann has accompanied the choir for over thirty years, taking over from Luned.  She also plays bassoon and clarinet and has performed in various orchestras and bands. The choir’s first accompanist was Ann’s sister-in-law and Ann’s husband Colin is a stalwart in the Bass section of the choir. Both Ann and Luned were honoured for their services to the choir when they were invited in 2011 to the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Assistant Musical Director : Adrian Morgan

Adrian is a farmer who began singing in Eisteddfodau at the age of 4.  He later sang in Brecon Cathedral Choir and competed in Urdd Eisteddfodau for Brecon
Adrian Morgan High School.  He sang in three musicals staged at Brecon Cathedral and played the lead in one production. This was translated into Welsh for the 1993 National Eisteddfod on the Royal Welsh Showground and was broadcast live on BBC TV.  He sings top tenor in the choir and is also deputy conductor of Builth Ladies Choir in addition he recently conducted several concerts for Rhayader MVC . He currently directs sections of our rehearsals and concerts and takes over completely during June when Luned is wine-tasting in France!

Supporters Group

In 2013 the Choir extended an invitation to wives, partners, former choristers and Vice-Presidents to form a group with the intention of improving communications and involving the wider community of the choir in its development.  It is hoped that the group will provide a welcome for new members and their partners and also continue to include former choristers and the widows and families of former choristers.

The Supporters Group meets at least four times in each year at 8pm in the Greyhound restaurant on Monday evenings at 8pm.  The group meets on an informal basis with Megan Jones as its coordinator.
