We are here to enjoy singing together, but most of all we love to entertain others and to help charities to raise funds. We are willing to travel to sing for you so contact us soon. ABOUT US……
We are a group of some fifty or so men of varying ages (OK – we’re mostly in or beyond our middle years but we always welcome younger voices to join!) who enjoy singing to entertain and raise funds for good causes. Our Musical Director is Adrian Morgan and Accompanist Ann Bufton, two talented musicians to keep us on track, together and in tune. Our members are from Builth Wells and the surrounding area of Powys in the heart of beautiful Mid-Wales. Our HQ is at the Greyhound Hotel, Garth Road, Builth. The choir was formed in 1968 and we have a number of founder members still singing with us. We are a Registered Charity (No: 1061889) and as well as performing in charity concerts, we sing for weddings, private functions and at local funerals. We are always seeking new members who will enjoy singing a wide variety of songs in a wide variety of places! We don’t have formal auditions and you are welcome to sit in on a rehearsal to see if you’d like to join. As well as performing in Wales, we have toured in Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Ireland and the Czech Republic. A recent highlight was a visit to the Flanders Battle Fields where we took part in an emotional Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres. We have “twinned” with a number of choirs in England, in recent years in Tintagel, Mousehole, Oxford, Swindon and Dudley and taken part in many festivals of choir music, including the massed choir at the Royal Albert Hall. In May 2013 and 2015 we had very successful trips to the Cornwall International Festival for Male Voice Choirs where we sang in concerts all over Cornwall. We are honoured to be chosen to take part in the International Finalé Gala Concerts in the Hall for Cornwall on each occasion with choirs from Cornwall, Hampshire, Lithuania, USA and Russia. We also have hosted many visiting choirs from the UK and overseas. In 2011 for instance, we were joined by the wonderful Drake Choir from Drake University of De Moines, Iowa in a Charity Concert at the Pavilion in Llandrindod Wells. Other popular recent visitors were MGV Leiderkranz 1863, from Sulzbach in Germany. Our guests worked hard to learn some Welsh and joined us in concert to sing “Rachie“.
