A Gala Concert : Pavilion Llandrindod Wells – 8 September 2018

Builth Male Voice Choir will be hosting a Gala Concert with guests Mousehole Male Voice Choir (Cornwall), Shân Cothi and Martha Powell (Harp) at The Pavilion, Llandrindod Wells on Saturday 8 September 7.30pm (doors open 7.00pm). This festival of music will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Builth Male Voice Choir which was founded in 1968.

Mousehole Male Voice Choir, the best known and largest choir in Cornwall, will be the special guests performing under the baton of their musical director Stephen Lawry. The choir has 83 members and has performed all over the United Kingdom, in Europe and the USA.  Mousehole Male Voice Choir is the second oldest male voice choir in Cornwall and was formed in the autumn of 1909. Derek Hope, Chairman of Builth Male Voice Choir, says it is an honour to welcome this premier Cornish choir to Wales to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Builth Choir.

Shân Cothi

The show also features Welsh personality Shân Cothi whose classical and music theatre repertoire has enthralled audiences throughout the world. In 2000 Shân was cast as Carlotta in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of The Phantom of the Opera in London’s West End and performed the role for fifteen months. Shân is also an experienced actress, television and radio presenter in Wales. In 2008 Shân set up Amser Justin Time Pancreatic Cancer Charity Wales following the loss of her husband Justin Smith and this concert will raise funds to further the essential research needed to support pancreatic cancer patients in Wales.

The young Welsh harpist Martha Powell from Brecon will also be performing in the Concert. Martha is a student at Cardiff University.
