ABOUT US……
We are a group of some fifty or so men of varying ages (OK – we’re mostly in or beyond our middle years but we always welcome younger voices to join) who enjoy singing to entertain and raise funds for good causes. We have two talented and musical ladies to keep us on track, together and in tune and they have both been involved with the choir for at least the last twenty-six years.
Our members are from Builth Wells and the surrounding area of Powys in the heart of beautiful Mid-Wales. Our HQ is at the Greyhound Hotel, Garth Road, Builth.
The choir was formed in 1968 and we still have a number of founder members singing lustily with us. We are a Registered Charity (No: 1061889) and as well as performing in charity concerts, we sing for weddings, private functions and at local funerals.
We are always seeking new members who will enjoy singing a wide variety of songs in a wide variety of places! As well as performing in Wales, we have toured in Holland, France, Germany, Ireland and the Czech Republic. We have “twinned” with a number of choirs in England, most recently in Swindon and Dudley and taken part in many festivals of choir music, including the massed choir events at the Royal Albert Hall. We also have hosted many visiting choirs from the UK and overseas. This year, for instance we were joined by the wonderful Drake Choir from Drake University of Des Moines, Iowa in a Charity Concert at the Pavilion in Llandrindod Wells. Other popular recent visitors were MGV Leiderkranz 1863, from Sulzbach in Germany. Our guests worked hard to learn some Welsh and joined us in concert to sing “Rachie“.
